There's a scene in the movie, The Mexican, with Brad Pitt that pretty much sums up my Spanish speaking ability. Brad's character is looking for a ride to the next town and he encounters a pickup truck with three Mexican men.
"I need a lift in your el truck-o to the next town-o..." I will be Brad Pitt's character while I'm in Spain. My kids, who have learned some Spanish over the years, have been coaching me. My daughter, Caitlynn, took it upon herself to tell me Spanish curse words. I guess maybe I'll be able to communicate somewhat. Over the past few months, I've taken some Spanish lessons through Rosetta Stone. While it has helped, I am not ready to have a conversation in Spanish. Not even close. I'll try my best, however. I downloaded a translator app on my phone in case I need help in times when I really need to get information. When in doubt, maybe I'll just do what Brad does in The Mexican and add an "o" to the end of each word. And speak loudly. And add in the Spanish curse words that Caitlynn taught me since those are the ones I remember the most. Thanks, kiddo. Because adding "o" to the end of nouns is what makes them Spanish and speaking English loudly will surely help with translation. I've got this. Wish me luck!
